About the GIG
The GIG is a place for IO psychology students, practitioners, faculty, and curious bystanders. Join us to talk about ideas that matter to the IO community! No idea is too big or too small.
Does it matter to you? It matters to us. Join the Discord and tell us to talk about it!
Once a month-ish, we host a live one hour-ish online variety show! In the first half, a little fun. In the second half, a little more serious.
Catch a live show by joining our e-mail notification list, following us on LinkedIn, joining our Discord and watching for an announcement or by subscribing to our YouTube channel. Or watch a previous recording! They’re good too!
How to Watch the Show
Being part of a live GIG is the best way to participate! But if you don’t have the time or it doesn’t happen to be the hour a month we’re live, you can watch previous recordings on our YouTube channel. Don’t forget to subscribe!
Audio from the show is also syndicated as a podcast, which you can find on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spotify. The podcast feed will be updated within two weeks of each live show.
If you want to be part of the Great IO Get-Together, join our Discord and chat with your fellow IOs, both live during the shows and any other time you want!
A live GIG will be broadcast on
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12 @ 4:30PM EDT (1:30PM PDT)
(RESCHEDULED FROM NOVEMBER 7)
The topic for this GIG is
The Cost Is Correct with Songqi Liu
where we’ll talk about how much stuff costs in the world of IO research funding and learn about Dr. Liu’s experiences as a PI and now Program Officer at NSF.
Check back here or in Discord as plans shape up or to provide suggestions for what to do on the show!
How to Join the Community
There are many ways to get involved with the GIG.
First, do you have a story to share or a question to ask? We are always looking for stories and questions to discuss on the show. Check out the kinds of stories we’re looking for now (updated regularly!).
Second, join our e-mail notification list, subscribe on YouTube, and follow us on LinkedIn!
Third, participate live! Get notified of live shows by subscribing to our channel on YouTube or watching for an announcement on Discord.
“What’s Discord?” you ask? Read on.
The Great IO Get-Together is supported by its Discord community, a place to chat anonymously with your fellow IOs, including the show’s hosts!
We use Discord during live shows for audience interaction! Outside of the show, we use it to ask the community for their input! The show will be better if you help shape it!
Discord is easy-to-use, free, anonymous, and secure. If you’ve ever used a live text chatroom, you’re ready for Discord. And even if you haven’t, join and be silent! Lurkers welcome!
To prevent too many people from joining the GIG Discord too quickly, the link below can stop working sometimes. If it doesn’t work, just contact Richard (one of the GIG co-hosts) on Twitter to get a fresh one.
